Pro-Choice Montana Releases Report on Crisis Pregnancy Centers

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -
The organization Pro-Choice Montana releases their report on crisis pregnancy centers, revealing the centers are not legitimate medical facilities.

The report found crisis pregnancy centers -- or CPCs -- across the state provide inaccurate medical information, and some violate confidentiality laws.

Investigators also found the centers do not provide or refer for abortions or contraceptives, which can mislead women facing an unintended pregnancy.

Officials at Missoula's crisis pregnancy center, Care Net, said they have two registered nurses on staff who provide medical care, and they follow all health care laws.

Jennifier Bartlett, Executive Director of Care Net, said, "It's not just a making sure we follow the rules, and go down a checklist and follow HIPAA, but we want to make sure our clientele are taken care of fully."

Maggie Moran, Executive Director of Pro-Choice Montana, said, "We simply believe that a woman has the right to know all of her options and to receive accurate medical information regarding these options."

Pro-Choice Montana officials said they're seeking stricter medical and confidentiality laws at CPCs across the state.
