Lewis and Clark County Elections come to an end

Posted: Updated:

As of Monday evening the collections office in Lewis and Clark County collected more than 15,000 ballots at the City-County building in Helena and are going to continue to be collecting until the polls close and ballots are due tonight at 8 PM.

Elections Supervisor Marilyn Bracken says "But I think it is good for a city election and also for the school district issues that were on the ballot."

On the ballot voters are voting for Mayor, Helena City Commissioner, and Neighborhood Council District 7, in addition to lLvy decisions for the High School Building Reserve and the Elementary Building Reserve. This election has had a good turnout as of now, but there is high traffic of last minute voters.

"The first day we started getting ballots back we got 11 trays of undeliverable ballots, that was people that had changed their address and hadn't told us about it so a lot of this that is going on is people coming in to change their address and get a new ballot."

The Elections Office had almost 2,200 citizens that did not change their address and when those voters come in and change their address and vote, they are then considered provisional ballots and are also due with all other votes by tonight at 8 PM.

Now city officials will be counting ballots here at the City-County building well into the night after it is all set and done at 8 PM but we wont see results from the provisionary ballots until next week on the 12th.
