Helena Food Share benefits from CANstruction

Posted: Updated:

A total of eight businesses coordinated with their employees to create a food drive to bring in as much food for the Helena Food Share as possible. Then the businesses would construct a design out of the donated food to be judged by a panel of people from around the city, and this event evolved as CANstruction.

Cathy Burwell, a judge in the event said "Several of the businesses in town joined hands to raise some food for the food bank which is always needed in our community and so American Federal was behind the push and a lot of it is kind of a challenge between different businesses and so we are going out to judge those sculptures like the one behind me here and it will be kind of interesting to see who has the biggest and the best."

This is a time of the year when the Helena food share needs donation for holiday season, and this creative food drive will bring in a lot of extra food for the food bank. A total of eight businesses participated in the CANstruction food drive, the Most Creative Display winner was "River of Plenty" at Downtown Helena Valley Bank, the Best Helena Display was the "Derailing Hunger in Helena" at Montana State Funding, and the Best Over all Display was American Federal Savings Bank football theme design "Team Work Gets You to The Goal."
