High School Students Try The City Commission

Posted: Updated:

High School Juniors got a chance to see what some of the adults in our community do for work and listen to some special guests during a special school day outing. 43 junior level high school students from many different schools in Cascade County got a chance to be city council men for a day during a high school learning session at the Great Falls Civic Center. The students got to hear from city officials and industry leaders like Benefis, 221 Industries, and Great Falls College MSU.

"We're hosting Leadership High School today in the city commission chambers. so students can learn a bit about local government and how it operates and their able to take on some of the roles as Mayor or Commissioner or some department heads. They have a little taste of what local government is like at least at a city commission meeting," says City Manager, Greg Doyon.

These students were selected from approximately 200 other high school kids through an application process. Students also got to ask questions to help further their understanding of how our city government works.
