Plane makes emergency landing at Helena Regional Airport

Posted: Updated:

Earlier today a Southwest Plane headed for Seattle made an unexpected landing at the Helena Regional Airport for a medical emergency.

Just after 11 this morning the Helena Regional Airport received word that a Southwest Airline 737 flying over the Helena area had an emergency situation on board. The aircraft was flying from Chicago Midway Airport to Seattle International Airport and notified airport officials that they were going to be landing in Helena.

"We contacted 911 city Helena Fire Department and St. Peters ambulance responded, transported that passenger to St. Peters hospital and the aircraft took on some fuel, took off, and on its way back to Seattle." said Assistant Airport Director Jeff Wadkemper.

The Southwest aircraft was at the Helena Regional Airport for a total of 45 minutes while the passenger was escorted off to emergency personnel. The medical condition of that passenger was not released to airport officials.
