Local Church Helping the Needy on Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:

One local church is trying to help give others in the Great Falls community a happy Thanksgiving. The Alexander Temple Church of God in Christ is starting a new idea, to give needy families a last chance for a fantastic Thanksgiving meal.

"Well actually what we are doing this Thanksgiving is wonderful. We're having a Thanksgiving basket giveaway and so what it is, is on Thanksgiving morning for 10 in the morning till about noon time we'll be distributing baskets to families in need throughout the Great Falls community right here at the church," says Pastor Marcus Collins.

According to Pastor Collins the church hopes to be able to accommodate as many folks as they can in the community.

"Initially we are looking at 25 to 50 baskets, but we are prepared to accommodate more families. What our goal is that on Thanksgiving day families that have missed some of the other opportunities in the community to receive help will also have on that morning to get help with anything they need so," says Collins.

And with the cold weather days upon us the church is also giving away warm clothing.

"Well during the Christmas time we do a ministry at the nursing homes, but also on Thursday we'll also have our clothes closet open. So any family that need a clothing or winter jacket or coats, anything for the children or the adults that will be available Thursday as well," explains Collins.

The Alexander Temple is also inviting members of the community to go ahead and pitch in to help someone in need this Thanksgiving holiday.

"If there is anyone else in the community that would like to donate for it food or clothing for the event, are more than welcome they can contact the church," says Collins.
