BOZEMAN -

The Gallatin County Administrator is stepping down in just under a month.

Earl Mathers is taking a new job as the county manager in Gaston County, North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte.

He has served Gallatin County since 2006.

While Mathers is excited to serve a county with more than 200,000 people, he will miss the people of Gallatin County.

"The people, absolutely, we have a large number of good friends in the Gallatin County area and beyond," said Mathers.

Mathers last day in Gallatin County is December 18.

He starts his new job in North Carolina January 2.
