DSG Bearcats Excited About Playing in State Championship

Posted: Updated:

After beating Westby/Genora and moving to 11-1 on the season, the Denton/Stanford/Geyser Bearcats will play for the Class C 6-Man Championship.

Sophomore quarterback Kade Woodall is excited about the opportunity and recognizes it as a big accomplishment for his team. "It's a pretty big deal. Stanford hasn't played in one since 2004, it's been  couple years for Denton, and I think 25 yearsfor Geyser.  We're all pretty pumped tobe playing in the state chipper and all three communities have been a big helpso it's going to be pretty rowdy come Saturday."

This is the first year of the co-op for the Bearcats and first year for head coach Scott Sparks.

"We've gotten better as the season went on sowe're really excited about the opportunity. We felt at the beginning of the year that if we came together and weimproved in all areas of the game that this was a possibility for us so we'rejust really excited for the opportunity."

The Bearcats will look to avenge their only loss this year when they play Highwood/Geraldine this Saturday at 1pm in Highwood for the Class C 6-Man title.
