Bison Look to Defend State Wrestling Title

Great Falls, MT - The Great Falls High School wrestling team is coming off it's first state title since 1999. Coach Steve Komac and his Bison plan to play a prominent role in deciding who this years champ is also.

The Bison return 8 state placers from their state title team. Komac says winning the championship was a great accomplishment for his kids, and coaching staff. But now that the new season has started, his team is putting last year in the rear-view mirror and Komac feels this years squad has the maturity to move full speed ahead towards a second straight state title. He says complacency will not be an issue.

"Our maturity is better this year," Komac says. "We were a fairly young team last year and our maturity is better. But, we actually know the AA State Tournament is going to be really tough this year, there are some other really good teams out there so we know it's going to be a battle. No one is going to give us anything, but we think we have a great focus in this group and it will be a fun season."
