Sen.Tester In Israel When Iran Nuclear Deal Reached

Posted: Updated:

U.S. Senator Jon Tester just happened to be in a meeting with Israel's prime minister when the nuclear deal with Iran was reached on Sunday.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not support the deal and has made his opinion clear saying,"It is a historic mistake."

The prime minister also shared his views with Senator Tester.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu was direct with me -- he has concerns with the initial agreement. There's not a lot of trust in the Middle East, and that's something that's going to have to change to make progress in the region," said Senator Tester.

Under the temporary deal, Iran agrees to freeze its nuclear program, destroy dangerous fuel and allow daily monitoring of facilities by international inspectors.

In return the U.S. and its allies have agreed to ease about 7 billion dollars worth of sanctions.

Tester added that it was a coincidence that he was in Israel during the big development. He said his weeklong trip had been scheduled some time ago.
