Two hospitalized after rollover accident on Highway 200

Posted: Updated:

An injury rollover crash near Simms caused Highway 200 to shutdown for some time tonight as a medevac helicopter was sent to the scene.

Two passengers were in a Chevy Trailblazer when the driver lost control of the car causing the accident. Highway 200 was shut down as officials took precautions caring for the passengers who were stuck in the flipped over blazer.

"I believe the driver of the car was swerving to avoid an animal in the roadway at which point she drove off the east bound shoulder over corrected back to the left and rolled three quarters." said Daniel Arnold from the Montana Highway Patrol.

The two passengers had to be cut out of the Blazer by fire officials and they were next transported to Benefis Health Systems. The condition of the passengers is unknown at this time. The accident is currently still under investigation, but Montana Highway Patrol believes that alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident. The highway is now open but it had been shutdown for hours as a precautionary medevac helicopter landed on the highway.
