Airports operate through the freeze

Posted: Updated:

As many of you know the weather is a little chillier than usual, and as the week goes on its just going to get colder. The Great Falls International Airport has been busy to keep the runway clear around the clock and has only seen a few delays.

The Great Falls International Airport has seen only a few delays in incoming flights, but not due to our weather here. The flights have been delayed coming in from Salt Lake City and Denver for various reasons. The airport is working through the cold weather, and since the temperatures are so cold, the snow is not much to deal for airport employees and have only had one issue.

"We did lose one plow truck last night with a mechanical issue, but those happen particularly when it is colder, so it won't effect us much we like the colder storms it is easy for us to work." says John Faulkner the Great Falls International Airport Director.

The plows have been clearing the runway around the clock for flights, employees have also been checking the friction on the runway to ensure there is good braking action for incoming flights as well and wants passengers who are going to be using the airport this week that they are not expecting in delays out of the airport due to weather.
