Gillan Announced as Health and Human Services Regional Director

Wednesday the U.S. Health and Human Services Department announced former Montana State Senator Kim Gillan of Billings will be the next director of region eight.

Region eight includes Colorado, Montana, North and South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.

As regional director, Gillan will work with state, local, and tribal officials and external stakeholders on a wide range of health and social service issues. The Health and Human Services Department is responsible for implementing the controversial 2010 Affordable Care Act and presided over the laws disastrous rollout in October.

Gillan, a Democrat, served in the Montana State Senate from 2004-2012 in addition to being a member of the Montana House of Representatives from 1996-2004. Gillan will officially join the Health and human Services Department on December 16th.
