Food For Fines

As you might expect, if you get caught breaking law, you will get punished, and sometimes it is by fine, and that can be a dent in your wallet. That is one way, but today Great Falls Municipal Court, allowing another currency to pay for fines.

Today at Municipal Court, those paying monthly fines were allowed to bring in non-perishable items that would cover for their December payment.  For every ten cans or boxes of food that are brought in would account for fifty dollars on their fine for the month.  District Judge Nancy Luth likes how the community can contribute to the holiday season.

Today also marking the end of an era as this year's Food for Fines will be the last one for Judge Luth as she is scheduled to retire at the end of January.  Cascade County will have their Food for Fines day starting Wednesday and runs through Friday.
