The Graham Trial Gains National Coverage As Her Case Moves Forward

Posted: Updated:

Did Jordan Graham murder her husband Cody Johnson by pushing him off the edge of this Montana cliff, or was it an accident? That's what 12 jurors must decide as the 22-year-old's murder trial gets underway inside this Montana courtroom.

Mark Geragos, a trial attorney says, "The prosecution I think has a tough hurdle in this case. She will get a presumption of innocence because she's a pretty white woman."

In court documents, prosecutors claim just eight days after their wedding, Graham fell out of love.

And the, "Defendant pushed Mr. Johnson in the back with both hands. Mr. Johnson fell face first to his death" at Glacier National Park while wearing a blindfold. Prosecutors also believe Graham then tried covering the murder up by sending herself an elaborate series of emails and text messages from a fake account.

Dan Abrams, ABC News Chief Legal Affairs Anchor tells us, "The prosecution is going to say her story doesn't make sense and they're going to focus a lot on what she did afterwards, because they've got a lot of evidence that she was engaged in a cover up."

Graham's defense attorneys claim her 25-year-old husband fell accidentally when she pushed his arm away during an argument.

Cameron Fredrickson, Cody Johnson's friend, "The fact that she openly admits that she took a dear friend from us, it just boggles my mind."

In court documents the defense admits, "Graham's story changed over time"but maintains the young bride is innocent.

The government is expected to call 39 witnesses, including forensic experts. The judge said in court today, he hopes to have the trial to the jury in the next five days. Brandi Hitt, ABC News, Los Angeles.
