#5 Ranked UGF Wrestling Hitting the Road for Big Duals

Posted: Updated:

The new top 20 poll is out and the MSU-Northern wrestlers are ranked 2nd in the NAIA, half a point behind number one Grand View. The UGF grapplers moved up one spot to number 5 in the nation following a strong showing at the Battle of the Rockies tournament last weekend in Great Falls.

The Argos will hit the road this weekend and head to Fort Wayne, Indiana where they'll wrestle several top teams at the Indiana Tech Duals. Coach Caleb Schaeffer's squad will then wrestle at the Desert Duals in Las Vegas  the following week. Before practice today, the Argos were talking about meeting the goals they set when the season started. Schaeffer doesn't care about the current rankings, saying his team needs to continue to work hard in order to accomplish what they set out to do when it matters most, the end of the season.

"I think this team is very capable of being a top 5 team in the country and I think we have the type of kids that will reach those goals, they just need to get refocused, it was a long first semester. They need to get back on track. We need to get a lot to tougher, mentally tougher, we're just not coming back from behind in matches. We're really good front runners and when we're leading, we get the win but when we're losing by a couple points, we're just not coming back from those matches," said Schaeffer.

The Argos will look to continue their success this weekend at Indiana Tech.  You can visit trackwrestling.com to view the tournament results and other information.
