Carroll's Blomquist Named Cliff Harris Award Finalist

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – Fighting Saints junior linebacker Sean Blomquist has been named a finalist for the 2013 Cliff Harris Award -- Blomquist is one of eight NAIA defensive players up for the small college defensive player of the year award, the winner will be announced Dec. 24th

The Cliff Harris Award will be presented annually by The Little Rock Touchdown Club and Wright, Lindsey & Jennings LLP to the top small college defensive football player in the country representing almost 500 NCAA Division II, III and NAIA colleges and universities.

Blomquist, a Helena native and Helena High graduate posted 124 tackles with 91 solo tackles and 19 tackles for loss. The captain of the defense also recorded 7 sacks and returned an interception for a touchdown.

The versatile linebacker also saw time in offensive packages, catching two touchdowns.

Nominees and finalists from all three divisions and an overall winner are chosen by head coaches and a prestigious selection committee of college and pro football greats.

The winner will be announced on Dec. 24 and honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards banquet in February 2014 featuring guest speaker Lou Holtz. The winner will receive the $3,000 Cliff Harris Award Trophy.

Also nominated at the NAIA level are: Donny Ruggles (DB – Faulkner University), Brock Messina (LB – Georgetown College), Jason Gladfelder, (LB – Grand View University), Joe Camacho (LB – Mid-America Nazarene), Ty Phillips (DL – Missouri Valley College), Deron Bruce (DL – Ottawa University) and Zach Dolph (LB – Saint Xavier University).

    SPOKANE, Wash. - The man killed in an early morning crash on Friday has been identified as 34-year-old, Alejandro E. Apodaca. Just before 12:30, Apodaca crashed his car on S. Bowdish Rd. He was traveling South on Bowdish near 17th when he lost control of his car, uprooting a tree in the front yard of a home.

    One man is in custody after a complaint of a home intrusion early Friday morning. According to Great Falls Police three males forced a door open at the residence in 1700 block of 20th Ave South. A firearm was involved and the theft of items occurred, but no one was injured. Police arrested Patrick Dale Henderson and have charged him with aggravated burglary, robbery, criminal mischief, and theft. Police are still in search of two other suspects.
