New Head Coach, 9 Seniors Lead CMR Girls

Posted: Updated:

Experience and leadership should be non issues for the CMR girls basketball team this season.

The Rustlers have nine seniors who will lead the way under new head coach Brian Crosby. The Rustlers lost to Billings Senior in the State Play-in game last season. Crosby expects this years team to bounce back by taking care of the ball, playing great defense, and capitalizing on opponents mistakes.

Crosby also says the transition to a new coach, which could be problematic for a team lacking leadership, has been pretty smooth so far. He and his players thank the teams upperclassmen for that.

"The leadership is amazing. Our first 10, 9 seniors and junior Taylor Edwards, are just, I mean, we don't have captains, they are all captains. It's nice to have that kind of leadership to fall back on," Crosby says.

"I like that we have so many seniors because we are all used to each other and we know how each other likes to play. We're in tune with each other and it helps when we're learning new stuff and getting to know a new coach and how they like to play," Senior forward Madison Watkins adds.

The Rustlers open the season at home on Friday night against Glacier. Tip-off is set for 7:30.
