Missoula Photographer Jailed for "Sexting" 17-year-old

Posted: Updated:
MISSOULA -

A Missoula portrait photographer is sentenced to two days in jail for exchanging sexual text messages and photos with a 17-year-old girl.

Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech also prohibited 33-year-old Dax Cody Kuehn from photographing underage clients without a relative present for the next year.

Orzech fined Kuehn $870 and he was taken to jail after Thursday's hearing.

Kuehn pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor obscenity last Thursday.

Investigators said Kuehn started flirting with the 17-year-old girl when he shot her senior pictures in August 2012.

They said over the next several months, they exchanged sexual text messages and, eventually, naked photos of each other.

Deputy County Attorney Jason Marks said Kuehn wasn't charged with a felony because no photos of the girl were found on his phone.
