University of Montana junior guard Jordan Gregory scored a team-high 16 points and three of his teammates scored in double figures, as the Grizzlies defeated the Saint Martin's University Saints 73-57 Sunday evening in UM's Dahlberg Arena.

The Grizzlies (3-4) led the entire game, and jumped to a substantial 20-4 lead with 14:04 left until halftime on a three-pointer by junior forward Mike Weisner.  Montana maintained its double-digit lead throughout the first half, and led 36-23 at intermission.

The Saints (2-6) cut the Grizzlies' lead to under 10 points on five occasions in the second half, and the last time they did that was with 61-52 with 4:37 left to play on a free throw junior guard Ryan Rogers.  On Montana's next possession after Rogers' charity shot, senior guard-forward Kareem Jamar made one-of-two free throws to give the Griz a 62-52 edge, and UM led by double digits the rest of the way.

Also in double-figures for Montana were Weisner, Jamar, and junior guard Keron DeShields scored 13 points each.  The Grizzlies were solid from the line, making 31-of-39 free throws for 79.5%).

Weisner was 4-of-5 from the field, made 3-of-4 three-pointers, and both of his free throws.  Gregory was 4-of-8, 2-of-3, and 6-of-6, while DeShields was 4-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the line.

Jamar's 13 points give him 1,235 in his career, moving him into a tie for 12th on UM's all-time list with Lou Rocheleau, who scored 1,235 points from 1946-49.

Freshman guard Tyler Copp led the Saints with a game-high 18 points, while junior guard Will Bond tallied 10 of the bench for SMU.

The Griz are back in action next Friday, Dec. 20, hosting UM-Western in a 7:05 p.m. game in Dahlberg Arena.
