Chouteau County Sheriff's Deputies Bring Christmas To Kids

Posted: Updated:

The Chouteau County Sheriff's Department was at Walmart in Great Falls today and they're playing Santa Claus to a group of kids.  They're going to help them pick out some winter clothes and a toy or two, so let's go inside and take a look at that holiday cheer in action.

The kids were off to the races with Sheriff's Deputies in tow and the whole crew was able to get all of the winter clothing they needed with the help of some local generosity.

"We take donations from generous people throughout the community and from this county, and we take children who are selected by school administration.  This year we were able to do a hundred dollars for winter clothing and boots and then twenty five dollars for a gift," said Curt Smith, Chouteau County Sheriff's Deputy.

Shirts, pants, socks, shoes, boots and everything in between.  With law enforcement checking off lists and finding sizes, the kids really appreciated a shopping assistant with a badge.

"Yeah, it was really nice…plus he was really patient, too," said Liam Noonkester from Fort Benton Elementary.

"They helped me pick out clothes, helped me find the boots I wanted and they were really helpful," said Stryder Deigan of Carter Elementary.

With the clothing out of the way, it was time for the important choices…at least in the minds of the pint-sized shoppers.  They hit the toy aisles like a hurricane and came away with everything their little hearts desired, but it was the deputies who left with full hearts and great memories.

"It was a blast.  It was really fun to help the little girl out, get her some stuff she needed and she picked out a toy for her brother," said Deputy Smith.
