Senior Standout: Fairfield's Coverdell Twins

Posted: Updated:

The Coverdell Twins, Kourtney and Kaylynn, haven't lost a basketball game since the 7th grade. As they enter their senior season at Fairfield High School, the girls understand how special their journey together has been.

"It's been amazing, actually. We're really close maybe because of being twins but mainly because we're sisters," said Kourtney Coverdell.

"It's been pretty sweet. We know each other a lot we're best friends so on the court we don't really have to talk to each other we just know what we're going to do," said Kaylynn Coverdell.

Kourtney and Kaylynn's likeness is transparent, literally. So when asked what it would be like to win a 4th state championship their answers were nearly identical.

"It would be like the best feeling in the world, I would remember it for the rest of my life," said Kaylynn.

"Yeah, I agree. It would be the top of everything in my high school career. It would be amazing. It would be really fun," said Kourtney.

And if they are going to get back to the state tournament and win it all, it will be because of their leadership, something Eagles Head Coach Dustin Gordon says extends beyond the court.

"We have really good girls but Kaylynn and Kourtney are really good leaders.  They're involved in student council, a handful of different clubs in school. They get good grades, they're taking tough classes. They're on top of their academics as well as their athletics" said coach Gordon.

So it's no surprise that both girls will be enrolling in the pre-med program at Montana State, but something that may surprise you is that they don't plan on rooming together in Bozeman.

"Well, for college, we're probably not going to room together which you might expect it from twins but we're probably not going to room together," the Coverdell's say.

But no matter where they rest at night, or where life after high school takes them, the Coverdell Twins have a special bond and amazing high school career that many people would dream of having.
