Montana's Tripp, Kistler Named All-Americans

Posted: Updated:

MISSOULA, MONTANA – The University of Montana's Danny Kistler Jr. and Jordan Tripp were both named to All-American teams Wednesday by three different organizations.

Kistler was named to the first team by the Associated Press and Walter Camp Foundation, and was chosen third team by the Sports Network. Tripp was tabbed first team by the Associated Press and second team by the Sports Network.

DANNY KISTLER, JR.

Kistler was recently named Montana's outstanding offensive lineman for the second season in a row, receiving the Paul Weskamp Award. He was a three-year starter at tackle and guard (his sophomore year) for the Grizzlies. He started all 13 games in 2013, and played in 48 career games, with 42 career starts (he had 27 starts in a row as a junior and senior).

Kistler, a senior from Seattle, Wash., was a first team All-Big Sky Conference selection for the second straight season following his senior campaign. He was the Grizzlies' offensive co-captain this past season along with junior quarterback Jordan Johnson.

JORDAN TRIPP

Tripp, from Missoula, was recently invited to play in the 65th Annual Senior Bowl. He was also invited to play in the 88th Annual East-West Shrine Game, but instead opted to participate in the Senior Bowl (Jan. 25 in Mobile, Alabama).

In 2013, Tripp, a 6-3 ½, 237-pound senior outside linebacker, was the Grizzlies' second-leading tackler with 100 stops, and he was tied for the team lead with three interceptions.

A first team All-Big Sky Conference pick and an All-America selection the past two straight seasons, Tripp was also Montana's co-captain on defense the past two years in a row. He was named the team's Pat Norwood Award winner (Most Inspirational Player), following the 2013 season.

He has been a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award (the FCS Defensive Player of the Year) as a junior and senior, and finished 10th in the balloting both of those seasons. He's ranked fourth in school history with 336 career tackles, playing in 52 career games and starting in 38.
