Folks Can Visit Once Upon a Nativity

Posted: Updated:

One local woman has a very unique and holiday based collection she's happy to show the public. Carol Olthoff has been collecting nativity scenes for over 50 years.

"It's been almost 50 that we had our first one from when we got married and it's just kind of been a passion for me," says Olthoff.

It is that passion that spurred Olthoff to start the Once Upon a Nativity walk through a spectacular display of depictions of the birth of Jesus from all across the world.

"Well I can't really tell you but I know there is well over 600," adds Olthoff.

People have come from all over Montana and even as far as Texas to see such a unique display.

"I think that it is unique to Great Falls and the other thing that is unique is that it is totally no charge to the public and I invite children to come and I have room for wheelchairs to come through. I try to spend as much time with each person as I can from noon till 6 o'clock," explains Olthoff.

Olthoff hope that folks leave both enjoying her collection and understanding the true meaning behind Christmas

"I believe that we have gotten so secular and that our world has become so me, me, me and forgotten about the true meaning of why we have Christmas in the first place and I just want people here and to show them that the Christ child is what it is all about," adds Olthoff.
