Malmstrom Spends a Snow Day at Showdown

Posted: Updated:

Being away from home can always be a little difficult and the men and women of Malmstrom Air Force base know that all too well.

"Regardless of what they did back home, this doesn't look like home so being able to come out here and try a new sport, get a hang of it, fall in love with it and make their time here at Malmstrom a great time," Jim Beisel, military.

For a rewarding bonding experience, those from Malmstrom traded in their military uniforms for something a little different -- ski gear.

Over 300 military men and women came out to Showdown to enjoy free tickets to the mountain.

"A lot of people are coming from FL, TX, CA and the idea of skiing is just so foreign and to be able to test it out in a situation like this you just can't beat it," said Jennifer Beisel, military.

The military and their families were able to test their feet at skiing and snowboarding with free lift tickets, rentals and free lessons.

"For everybody its kind of a good time to get together and kind of learn. Experience it for the first time especially when its free you can't go bad," said William Trottier, military.

Showdown employees say they enjoy giving back to those that work so hard defending our freedom.

"We really appreciate everything the military does for our county and we like to show that any way we can," said Charlie Willett, Showdown marketing director.
