Little Shell Tribe Holds Elections

Posted: Updated:

The Little Shell Tribe is currently counting the ballots in their Secretary-Treasurer elections. With the ballot box closed today the Little Shell Tribe begin counting all those ballots from yesterdays election.

"It's been going real great we have had a lot of good turn out for voters for votes mail ins it's been really great," explains Shawn Gilbert, Election Official

With many ballots coming in by mail there were still folks who physically showed up to vote in person.

"We had about 50 voters in for the day," says Gilbert.

Currently ahead of the polls is incumbent Colleen Hill but just like in any election it's still anyone's game.

"We will be done by this evening, for the elected Secretary Treasurer for the Little Shell Council,"

Each ballot gets checked by a team of three officials and then tallied on their white board for all to see.

"Where ours is mostly paper but we verify through the enrollment system and we check everybody make sure they are legal," says Gilbert.

Still more ballots left to be counted each ballot counted by hand so we will not know who that winner is until tonight and we will give you more of that information later as we know it.
