The Wife of a Man Killed in a Land Dispute Files a Wrongful Death Complaint

Posted: Updated:

The wife of a man shot and killed, in what authorities say was a dispute over land access, has filed a wrongful death complaint.

Jackie Newman, from Great Falls, filed the civil complaint against Joseph Campbell. Her suit argues that Campbell negligently killed Timothy Newman, and therefore he should be liable for wrongful death and survivorship damages. However, Campbell's attorney maintains that he was acting in self-defense.

Authorities are still investigating the October 18th shooting, but for now no criminal charges have been filed.
