Avalanche Caution High Until Tuesday Morning

Posted: Updated:

The Avalanche Center issued an Avalanche Warning for the back country of the Bridger Range and the Northern Gallatin Range in Southwestern Montana.

Center officials say that more than 20 inches of snow has fallen over the last several days on an unstable snow pack.
Additional stress on the snow pack has been caused by strong winds from the northwest.
The center says the avalanche danger is high and travel in the area is not recommended.

They add that a man and woman in their twenties have already been injured by an avalanche in the area. The center says the two people are lucky to be alive after the size of the avalanche that swept them off a cliff.
The warning lasts until Tuesday morning.
