Federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation Could Be at Risk for 2014

Posted: Updated:

If Congress does not renew our Federal Emergency Unemployment Compensation by this Saturday, close to 540 Montanans will be at risk of losing these benefits.

Created in 2008, this unemployment program provided up to 92 weeks of combined state and federal benefits to jobless workers.

Although our unemployment rate has been at a low 5.2%, it has been reported that more than 1,800 Montanans receive state unemployment insurance, and could later qualify for these benefits if the program is renewed.
