Helena High Speed Pursuit Suspect in Custody

Yesterday we brought you information regarding the high speed pursuit that took place in Helena Thursday morning with no suspect in custody, and today the Helena Police Department has someone behind bars.

The high speed pursuit that began in the Capitol Hill Mall parking lot early Thursday morning ended with a vehicle, but no one in or around it. Today Helena Police Officers took Matthew Williams, age 35, into custody at gunpoint near the intersection of Helena and Roberts after he had fled from officers. Williams has three felony warrants for petition to revoke his release on several felony convictions including assault with a weapon, where he shot at a person, burglary, and criminal possession of dangerous drugs. Based on today's incident he is also being charged with obstructing with a police officer, a misdemeanor. He is currently being held in the Lewis and Clark County Sheriffs Office jail.
