Carroll Men Battling Injury Bug

Posted: Updated:

The injury bug continues to bite the Carroll College men's basketball team.

When the Saints resume conference play next Thursday at home against Westminster, it will be with a limited roster. The Saints are still without last year's leading scorer Nick Jones, who has been battling injuries in both his hips the entire season. Then, there's senior forward Dennis Mikelonis, last year's second leading scorer, who returned to the line-up for last weeks trip to Arizona after missing a game with two bad knees. Mikelonis says he's still not 100% but will play though the pain.

"As the game went on, at least in the first and second game it was okay. Then after two games in a row, that 3rd game was pretty tough. I was in a lot of pain and didn't really play as much as I wanted to," Mikelonis says.

As for Jones, he says the road back has been longer than expected

"I thought I'd be back by now. But the way it's worked out, it's just been a bit slower than I thought, so I just gotta stay at the rehab and keep doing it and let's see what happens from here. I don't really know."

Carroll wrapped up it's non-conference slate with a 5-8 record.
