Lt. Gov. John Walsh Shows Interest in Interim Senate Appointment

Lieutenant Governor John Walsh is running for Senator Max Baucus' vacated Senate seat next year, but now he is garnering interest in taking that seat a little sooner than the 2014 midterm elections.

President Obama's announcement to appoint Senator Max Baucus as the next Ambassador to China will leave Governor Steve Bullock to choose the interim replacement for Baucus. Now Lieutenant Governor John Walsh said he is interested in serving the remainder ofBaucus' term if confirmed for the diplomatic position. Walsh has announced his candidacy for baucus' seat in the 2014 election, he faces former Lieutenant Governor John Bohlinger and Dirk Adams for the Democratic nomination. As of now, Governor Bullock has not approached him on the interim position.
