Army Investigation Concludes Lt. General John Walsh Misused Position

Posted: Updated:

A 2010 investigation by the United States Army's Inspector General came to a conclusion that Montana Lieutenant Governor and 2014 Senatorial Candidate John Walsh was using his position as Montana Adjutant General for private gain.

The report says that Walsh improperly abused his government resources and endorsed a non-federal entity. The reports of the investigation followed complaints by troops claiming Walsh coerced them to pay dues to join the National Guard Association of the United States. Walsh disagreed with the conclusion of the investigation and has not been disciplined. Walsh is running for the Senate Seat being vacated by Senator Max Baucus, and also has shown interest in the Senate Interim Appointment when Baucus' diplomatic position as Ambassador to China is confirmed.
