Welcome Baby New Year

Posted: Updated:

Meet baby new year, Josephine Birch Hayes born today at Benefis Hospital at 2:57 PM. Josephine is the first born of proud parents Greg and Natallia Hayes, from Helena, who were pleasantly surprised that their new born baby daughter was the first to be born in the year 2014 in Great Falls.

"We we're just happy to have a healthy baby obviously, but it's nice to have an added bonus. So one more thing to be happy about. We didn't really know that it was even a tradition here. We were happy to hear that after the baby was born," says Father Greg Hayes.

According to father Greg Hayes both the baby and mother are doing just fine. Josephine is a healthy 5 pounds and 12 ounces and 19 inches long. For being the first baby born in the new year here Benefis has rewarded baby Josephine with a gift basket of baby toys and blankets and a box of diapers. An interesting fact the baby's birth time of 2:57 PM was the same time but different date as her father's own birth.
