Update on the Car that Slid into the Missouri River

An update on a scary incident for one local driver of a gray Nissan SUV that veered off of Giant Springs Road, causing the vehicle to slide into the Missouri River. Highway Patrol responded to the vehicle heading east towards Black Eagle. Ambulances later arrived on the scene and were able to pull the driver out. The unidentified female driver was immediately taken to the hospital. Black Eagle fire Chief Tom Martin confirmed that only one individual was involved in the accident.

"As far as I know the driver's okay when I left her at the hospital. She was fine. She was just treated for hypothermia. any time in the water there and those kinds of things there is a chance for hypothermia so," says Trooper Scott Wydell.

They add they are not giving the woman a citation. Something to keep in mind with all of this winter weather is that there are no guard rails on the road in that area, so these sorts of incidents aren't uncommon during the winter season says one safety and rescue personnel.so be to take it slow in these sorts of driving conditions because we have had reports of a turned over tractor trailer near Helena with an injury. So again be safe if traveling.
