EpiPens Now Mandatory in Schools

Posted: Updated:

The bill encourages schools to keep epipens on hand, not for any specific student, but just in case of any severe allergic reaction situation.  West Glacier Elementary has never stocked epipens for general use, but principal, Cory Pierce, says they're taking steps to change that.

"We're working on that. There's a lot of hoops to go through, but that is something other schools, especially rural schools, have done to ensure that if you do have an allergic reaction you can respond quickly," says Pierce.

Right now, the school is working to get a staff member trained to administer the epipen, as well as a prescription from the Flathead City-County Health Department.
