Capital Looking to Avenge 2013 State Championship Loss Against Hellgate

Posted: Updated:

The Capital versus Missoula Hellgate boys basketball game Thursday night will be a rematch of the 2013 state title game.

It took a wild and crazy shot by Hellgate's Tres Tinkle to send the Bruins from their 2nd title in school history to 2nd place. But that runner-up finish motivated the Bruins to have a better season and to beat the team that took the championship from them.

"It's a huge game but all in all it's a conference game. That's just as important. We've forgotten about last year and we look forward to this year," said Hunter Beto, senior guard.

"We know that last year is in the past. We can't do anything about it. This is a new year. We need to focus on winning this game. It'll set us up good for the rest of the season," said Kyle Nickol, senior forward.

"These are two different teams. Same goals obviously but different guys. It's a new season so at the end of the day we know Hellgate's a good team but it's another conference game. It's an important conference game and if we can get a win on the road it'll set us up nicely," said Guy Almquist, Bruins head coach.

The Bruins will travel to Missoula to play Hellgate before returning back to Helena for their first crosstown game of the season.
