Great Falls Democrats Announce Candidacy Together

Posted: Updated:

When it comes to politics, it's important to show a united front and one political party in Great Falls is starting the election season by doing just that.

"Well, you're here because we have some important races in 2014.  We have races for the Montana Senate, we have races for the Montana House and we've got races for the Cascade County Courthouse," said Mitch Tropila of House District 26.

The Democrats of Cascade County came together today at Great Falls College MSU to announce their candidacy for a variety of political positions.

"Well, today's the first legal day to register for office and there are several democrats running for the first time, including myself," said Bob Moretti of House District 20.

While each candidate could have announced individually, the group felt it was important to show unity and act as a team.

"You know, things always get done better when there's a consensus, a group to do it.  The team analogy holds up really well.  Nobody wins anything on their own.  One of the problems we're facing in politics these days is splits even within the parties and at least here in Cascade County, we're all on the same page and we all work together," Jack King of House District 23.

The teamwork evidently won't be stopping at today's event.  The candidates plan on working together for the foreseeable future both in campaigning and in office.

"Brilliant minds can come together and just come up with some incredible ideas that can actually turn into good policy sometime too," Carlie Boland of Senate District 13.

"The fact that we are a unified body and that we're here to work for the people of Montana," said Earl Salley of House District 23.

"You know, it's time to wake up and start figuring out who the candidates in your district are and what their qualities are," said Jean Price of House District 24.

"We're intent on going to Helena to work together to do the business that needs to be done for Montana," said Vonnie Brown of Senate District 11.

The group is also encouraging community members, no matter their party, to register to vote and be part of the political process.
