UNITY Project Gifts Money to Three Non-Profits

Posted: Updated:

The Russell Country Federal Credit Union found a way to save over a million dollars for their Great Falls members and gave some of those savings to organizations helping those in need.

Dave Crum, of the Great Falls Public School Foundation, says, "They were going to try and save these finance charges and they were going to give back to each one of the organizations. The GFPS Foundation was contacted because we handle funds for the homeless program. We are fortunate that they chose us, and they gave us $3,000 to help homeless students. We are very appreciative of that."

Crum says the money means so much to the students he helps.

"We step and do whatever it takes to keep that student in school. They didn't choose to be homeless when they came into this world. It was the circumstance  of their family that made it as such, so we want to make sure that they have a good fighting chance."

The UNITY Project also awarded grants to the Kairos Youth Services and the YWCA Mercy Home because they wanted to build a better community for less fortunate children.

Sharon Lynde, a RCFCU Financial Service Manager, says,"That homeless student program was a huge one for us, and so were YWCA Mercy Home and Kairos Youth Services. All of those organizations are geared toward helping the betterment of children in our community. It was great to have them involved with us."
