Great Falls Schools Win Healthy School Award

Posted: Updated:

Great Falls has 17 reasons to celebrate tonight as 17 of our schools have won awards for being some of the healthiest in America. 15 elementary schools and 2 middle schools in Great Falls are joining an exclusive group of only 7 percent of schools across the entire nation being presented with the National Healthy Schools Award. Both Superintendent of Montana Schools Denise Juneau and our own Great Falls Superintendent Tammy Lacey are very proud of the job these schools have done.

"Having 17 of their schools win this award is really big I mean you heard the statistic of how many schools across the nation," says Superintendent Juneau.

"I couldn't be more prouder of our schools. Our food service staff, our health enhancement staff, all the teachers that are in the classroom promoting kids to get up and move, the principals that work this day in and day out," Says Superintendent Lacey.

To qualify for these awards Great Falls Public Schools submitted a detailed application demonstrating their healthier choices in lunch menu nutrition education and multiple opportunities for students to participate in physical activities.
