Golf is a sport typically played during the Spring and Summer months, but in Great Falls people have a chance to play golf all year round. what's a great way to stay active and healthy in the winter months? well would you believe me if I said golf? that's right winter golf a game played all year round is gaining popularity in the electric city.
"It's been really popular with the really serious golfers. when it is nice out they can get out and practice, keep up with their swing over the winter. and just a really good way to get out and get some exercise in the middle of Winter," says Deputy Director at Great Falls Park and Rec, Patty Rearden.
You would think that when the snow hits all golf related activities would stop however that is not the case here in Great Falls.
"Winter golf we play at Anaconda Hills part of the year and then we moved to Eagle Falls right now we are playing at Eagle Falls. We open up the course when the weather permits and people actually play backwards," says Rearden.
Yes the game played backwards in order to keep folks off the greens during the winter you tee off in front of the green instead.
"We put the tees in front of the greens and vice versa so you play backwards of what you would normally do on a regular season golf course," says Rearden.
Community members only have a short time left to experience this one of a kind game of golf.
"Well we run from November 15th to February 15th. So we'll be winding up February 15th," says Rearden.
