ACLU Sues Over New Method of Execution in Montana

Posted: Updated:

After the execution of an Ohio inmate the civil rights group, ACLU, is now saying the untested drug combinations in lethal-injections are dangerous.

According to ACLU last week's execution of Ohio's condemned inmate, Dennis Mcguire, illustrated the dangers of using this untested drug combination. He was left gasping and snorting for air during his 26 minute death. Last year Montana changed its lethal -injection method from a combination of three drugs to two, but there has not been an execution in the state since the change.  The organization argues that this new policy, of going from three to two, was done without medical or scientific advice and without the public's input. The ACLU along with many inmates have asked District Judge Jeffrey Sherlock to rule on their complaint without a trail. A ruling is not expected until next month, we will keep you updated as this decision is made.
