Bobcat Women Focused on Continuing Hot Start

Posted: Updated:

Ashley Brumwell and Jasmine Hommess led Montana State over conference leader North Dakota over the weekend. The Bobcat women have now won five in a row after their opening loss to Sacramento State, and say there is certainly no 'I' in this team.

"They're playing really great team basketball. Unselfish, they're competitive I think they're rising to challenges and sticking together," Cats head coach Tricia Binford says.

Senior forward Ashley Brumwell agrees with her coach. "Offensively we're getting contributions from everybody We're playing nine kids, and it doesn't matter the quantity of minutes. Whoever is coming in is contributing in a big way."

So how has the team changed since the loss to the Hornets?

"We did some things well against Sacramento State. From an offensive stand point we had a great game. I thought defensively was our biggest struggle so we really improved the defensive end the past few weeks. We're going to continue to grow on that end of the floor," Binford says.

"We went in to that game wanting to win we prepared hard for that team We're just really sticking with our game plan it's been successful we're trusting in our coaches and trusting in each other," adds Brumwell.

This team say's it's different from last year's because they have a clear focus.

"We're breaking down our seasons right now. I think that's a big portion when you get to a year round sports. You gotta shorten your goal frame and everything by two week intervals till we hit the second round and we'll shorten it from there," Binford says.
