Bobcats tamed by Bengals

Chris Hansen scored nine of his 28 points in the final 1½ minutes to ensure Idaho State's 69-64 victory over Montana State Saturday night.

The Bobcats had closed within three on Marcus Colbert's 3-pointer with 40 seconds left before Hansen made 5 of 6 free throws to hold off MSU. Hansen sank 12 of 16 from the line as ISU made 26 of 35 free throws to MSU's 10 of 18.

Andrew Hatchett added 21 points and Tomas Sanchez 11 for the Bengals (7-10, 4-4 Big Sky), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Colbert led MSU (9-10, 4-4), which has lost three straight, with 21 points. Calen Coleman added 13 and Flavien Davis 10.

A 13-2 run gave the Bengals their biggest lead, 49-38, with 8:29 remaining. MSU tied it at 53 with 4:28 left. ISU responded with a 9-2 run for a 59-53 lead with 2:34 left.

Defending Big Sky Champs fall to first place Wildcats

Davion Berry scored 25 points to lift Weber State to a 68-63 win Saturday night over Montana.

Joel Bolomboy contributed 12 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds, Kyndahl Hill added 11 points and Kyle Tresnak had 10 for Weber State (10-6, 7-1 Big Sky), which shot 23 of 49 from the field in its fourth-straight win.

With the score tied at 50 late in the second half, the Wildcats used an 8-0 spurt fueled by five Bolomboy free throws to build the lead it would protect down the stretch.

Montana (8-9, 3-5) shaved the gap to four on a 3-pointer from Kareem Jamar that made it 67-63 with 18 seconds to go but missed its two final shots, as Weber State landed just 1 of 4 from the foul line.

Jamar led the Grizzlies with 20 points, while Michael Weisner added 17, Jordan Gregory 13 and Keron DeShields 11.
