Farm Bill Agreement To Come This Week

Posted: Updated:

Many have been waiting for the Farm Bill to finally be passed, and this week it is looking a lot more promising as our political leaders head back to Washington.

Decision makers here in Montana are seeing a vote for the bill to take place very soon, followed by approval within days. The five-year farm bill covers issues with domestic crop subsidies to exports, and global food aid. The previous Farm Bill passed in 2008, it expired in fall of 2012, but was extended until September of last year. Many Montanan farmers and ranchers depend on this bill and have been waiting for it to pass.

"So we have been pushing very hard on behalf of farmers and ranchers across Montana to get the Farm Bill passed. We are in close contact with many of the groups that represent the interest of farmers and ranchers, and hopefully, keep our fingers crossed we get this Farm Bill through the House and the Senate and the presidents desk here in the next couple of weeks." said Congressman Steve Daines.
