A Man Charged in a Double Stabbing Receives His Sentence

After a stabbing nearly killed one man and injured another, a Poplar resident has finally received his charges. According to court documents, James Michael Youpee stabbed two people in a Poplar hotel last April. It all started during an argument between Youpee and an unidentified female. When she left their room to make a phone call in another, Youpee forced his way in, stabbing her and the man who lived there. The male victim suffered life threatening injuries and was flown to Billings for treatment.

Youpee has since been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. After his final hearing on Thursday, he was sentenced with 42 months in prison and 3 years of supervised release.
