The City Commission Adds an E.P.A. Consent Decree to Their Agenda

Posted: Updated:

After being cited for violating the Clean Water Act, the Great Falls City Commission has to chose what to do regarding our environment.

The E.P.A., which is in charge of managing our pre-treatment program, wants our city to give in to their consent decree. If our city doesn't comply, it will cost us thousands of dollars each day. So while this is a big decision, our mayor says it won't be long before a final choice is made.

"Well I think this is a combination of a very complicated issue. I think we are working in the right direction. I think we are going to bring this out at our agenda meeting and perhaps vent it again. And I think we are going to forward it on as the proper avenue," said Great Falls Mayor Michael Winters.

After their agenda setting meeting Wednesday afternoon, this issue will be up for further review on February 4th, where a final decision will be made.
