The Flamingo Shares Their Super Bowl Planning and History

Posted: Updated:
GREAT FALLS -

Super Bowl Sunday, the big day we all know and love, comes with years of traditions. A lot of which include food and beer. And for the Flamingo, here in Great Falls, this is something they have been providing for 30 years. But it would have never started with out a lucky hand of poker. Dick Menez, the store owner says, "The guy had four 5's and I had a straight flush and we bet. He threw this in the pot and I threw my 1941 Plymouth in the pot." And the rest is history.

30 years later, Dick and his crew are still throwing their annual Super Bowl party, and with a 200 person limit, their tables are prepped and ready well before hand. Gerry Hesner, a Flamingo employee, explains, "All these tables are reserved. So our crowd is kinda built in. We don't sell a lot of tickets out the door because our crowd is already here." This is because the same crowd comes year after year. Some are even third generation customers. But can you blame them? The Flamingo has made sure they are ready with everything you need to have a good time.

Gerry says, "Budwiser brings the beer in for us. You can see our kegs are set up and they can help themselves. This year we are having ribs, spaghetti, chips and dips, sub sandwiches, taco dips, all kinds of good stuff." And when they say ribs they weren't kidding. They stocked up with 150 pounds of them so everyone can come out and dig in!

And don't you worry, just because the Super Bowl is over, doesn't mean they party is. The Flamingo is open until 2:00 tonight so come out and join the action!
