Montana Ranks With The Best In The Country

Posted: Updated:

We all know Montana is a pretty great place, but where do we rank among the rest of the states.  A recent Politico study addressed that question with a variety of different inputs.

New Hampshire came out on top while Mississippi finished at the bottom of the pile.  Montana came in a respectable 13th, due in large part to some serious community efforts.

Our schools dominated the nation. We were 3rd in 8th grade reading scores and 7th in 8th grade math scores.  This was no surprise to local educators as they emphasize rigorous lesson plans and top-notch teachers.

One local group kept coming up in conversation. The United Way's programs have helped boost all of these numbers, including our number two ranked graduation rate.

Our other top mark? We rank third in obesity rate (probably due to so many outdoor activities), which just happens to round out the United Way's three main points of focus.

None of these groups are planning to coast and, with a little effort, we'll be ranking even higher next year.
