Local's Speak Out On Facebook For Their 10th Birthday

Its time to say happy birthday to Facebook. Believe it or not, they are officially 10 years old, and over the course of the last decade, this college campus creation has racked in close to $1.5 billion followers. Many of which include our staff.

The reasons for logging in to Facebook are limitless. Even local businesses have been cashing in and they've been doing it for years. Monica Deshaw, the manager of Dante's says, "It helps us, because being a small business, we don't have a lot to spend on any kind of advertising. Therefore, we do have to find imaginative ways to get out there and remind people we are here."

And its been working. Monica has been running Dante's Facebook for 3 years, and has even tried a little experiment to make sure it's the culprit behind all their extra business. Monica tells us she, "stopped posting for about three weeks and we saw a huge decline in mainly our day time."

Since Dante's in located in a residential area, She thinks Facebook serves as a friendly reminder for the public. So whether its for business, catching up with family, looking after nephews or just getting some extra friends, Facebook has made a lot of wishes come true in just ten birthday's worth of time.
